research interests
web/cs
Particularly interested in online collaboration and user synthesis. Online communities and crowd-sourcing have proven to be insanely powerful, but in my opinion, usually focused on finding the single best individual solution/submission, rather than creating something that's greater than the sum of individual components. How are smaller contributions best combined into a greater whole, especially when we're not treating those smaller contributions as independent and simple parts?
robotics
I like compliant mechanisms. Robotics traditionally uses rigid links and direct actuation. Many mechanisms and tools nowadays exchange rigid, discrete components for compliant, integrated ones, leading to more preferable capabilities and lower manufacturing cost. Why not bring those benefits to robotics?
